REFRAMING THE PAST.
Hart Island in New York, an unmarked burial site for the indigent dead, faces challenges of mistreatment and diminishing burial space. This project seeks to acknowledge its historical significance and reintegrate it as a respectful cemetery open to the public. Through architectural interventions such as a ferry terminal, museum, and columbarium, the project aims to restore dignity to the deceased while addressing the city’s burial space crisis.

BEYOND THE STORY.
Beyond The Story explores the intersection of linguistics and architecture, analyzing how historical and contemporary narratives—spanning the past, present, and future—shape spatial design. By juxtaposing Hansel and Gretel, Parasite, and Elysium, the study reveals how economic and social disparities are embedded in architecture. The gap between the rich and the poor is reflected in various aspects of housing, including decoration, color, materials, and even location, all of which contribute to the atmosphere of their socioeconomic status. Through this lens, the project challenges conventional design approaches and reimagines architecture as a medium for storytelling and raising social awareness.
